Sober Curious With Sun Chaser
Sober Curious starts with a question, a look in the mirror of sorts. For some, it comes after the N-teenth time of waking up hungover and thinking, was last night actually worth this? For others, it may be seeing the way alcohol has impacted our culture and lifestyle and recognizing that there is a serious tradeoff we’re making when we drink.
Ruby Warrington, the author of Sober Curious and founder of Club Söda, explains being sober curious as “choosing to question, or get curious about, every impulse, invitation, and expectation to drink, versus mindlessly going along with the dominant drinking culture.” The full title of her book is Sober Curious: The Blissful Sleep, Greater Focus, Limitless Presence, and Deep Connection Awaiting Us All on the Other Side of Alcohol. We love this extended title because it highlights just how much there is to gain by a less-alcohol centric life.
Sobriety alone has a complicated history, rooted for some in religion and cultural practices, and others in their path to recovery after abuse. Although the Sober Curious mindset has probably popped up throughout history, its recognition as a movement is more modern. With a focus on wellness & health, people are choosing to drink less because they get more from life as a result. This is exactly what we noticed and decided to pursue when starting Sun Chaser.
Direct quote from us: “We started Sun Chaser to fill a serious gap in our own lives. We were tired of the endless cycle: taking care of our bodies and minds during the week but throwing that all away when weekend parties, pre-games, and happy hours came around. We are fueled by the feeling of waking up energized to do the things we love. Hike, surf, run, write, draw, live fully. But we found this to be consistently at odds with the drinking culture that is so prevalent in our social lives.”
Sun Chaser was crafted for everyone. To be a delicious, fun alternative to alcohol that opens the door to a Sober Curious even alcohol-free life.
